StarTek Inc. of Denver, a publicly traded business process outsourcing service, said Monday that it will add a new call center in Jonesboro to employ at least 500 people.
The company, which works for clients in the telecommunications industry, plans the center to operational by third quarter. StarTek said the center will provide in-bound customer care services for an unnamed Fortune 1000 telecom client.
"StarTek was looking for a community of individuals who have a passion for customer service, a promise of employee contribution, and the potential to grow with our company," Larry Jones, president and CEO of StarTek, said in a news release. "We found that in Jonesboro."
The company said it had signed the lease on a 55,000-SF facility at 2908 South Caraway Road. The firm said it typically hires customer service representatives, supervisors and managers. Job applicants can already apply at StarTek.com/careers.
Jones said the Workforce Center, Arkansas State University, Crowley's Ridge College, county officials and various economic development groups in the county helped convincing the company was the right place to settle.
"We are excited that StarTek has selected Jonesboro as the site for its next customer service center and we look forward to StarTek being part of our community," Mark Young, president and CEO of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, said.
