Aviation Repair Technologies announces state-of-the-art facility in Blytheville

Blytheville, AR - Aviation Repair Technologies (ART) will open an airframe and engine repair facility at the Arkansas Aeroplex in Blytheville. The company will invest $20-million and will employ 310 people within three years. The average salary for those employees will be approximately $20 per hour.

“The $16.9 billion annual airline maintenance market is projected to grow 4.3% yearly and this facility is part of our strategy to meet that demand,” said Ben Quevedo, Sr., chairman of ART and chief executive officer of Aero Maintenance Group (AMG). “The Arkansas Aeroplex is an excellent headquarters for our operations and the support of the state and local government played an important role in the decision to locate in Mississippi County. We look forward to building a successful enterprise in Blytheville and in the state of Arkansas.”

ART’s principal activities at the Arkansas Aeroplex will include line maintenance, heavy maintenance, jet engine overhaul and other maintenance activities for aircraft such as the CRJ-200 and ATR-72. ART currently provides maintenance for several operators around the United States including Federal Express, Delta Air Lines and American Eagle.

“Aerospace is one of Arkansas’s fastest-growing industries and a focus of our economic-development efforts,” Governor Mike Beebe said. “By choosing Blytheville’s Aeroplex, Aviation Repair Technologies has shown that it recognizes our efforts and believes in the workforce in Northeast Arkansas.”

“It is gratifying to see a strong company locate at the Arkansas Aeroplex,” said Blytheville Mayor Barrett Harrison. “We are aggressive in this region when it comes to economic development. ART brings good jobs for our citizens and helps diversify our regional economy so we will be strong in the years to come.”

“Bringing this great project to Mississippi County was a wonderful example of teamwork between the county, state, city and the Aeroplex to work with a strong company to bring well paying jobs to the people of Mississippi County,” said Mississippi County Judge Steve McGuire. ”We are extremely excited about adding a major aviation component to our industrial base.”

The Arkansas Aeroplex is a multi-modal transportation facility and is located on the former Eaker Air Force Base. This location is now a general airport and industrial park.
